BETTING, GAMING AND LOTTERIES

The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (Variation of Fees) (Scotland) (No.2) Order 1991

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by paragraph 20(1A) of Schedule 1 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963^[1] and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

    1.    -

    (1)  This Order may be cited as the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (Variation of Fees) (Scotland) (No.2) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 2nd December 1991.

    (2)  This Order shall extend to Scotland only.

    2.    Paragraph 20(1) (fees for grant or renewal of bookmakers' permits, betting agency permits and betting office licences) of Schedule 1 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 shall be amended by the substitution, for paragraphs (a) to (e), of the following paragraphs:-
"(a) in the case of the grant of a bookmaker's permit, £133;

(b) in the case of the grant of a betting agency permit, £133^[2];

(c) in the case of the grant of a betting office licence, £106^[3];

(d) in the case of the renewal of a bookmaker's permit or betting agency permit, £16^[4]; and

(e) in the case of the renewal of a betting office licence, £20^[5];" .

    3.    The Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963 (Variation of Fees) (Scotland) Order 1987^[6] is hereby revoked.

This Order, which extends to Scotland only, increases certain fees payable to the appropriate authority under paragraph 20(1) of Schedule 1 to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963. The fees for the grant of a bookmaker's permit and for the grant of a betting agency permit are increased from £100 to £133. The fee for the grant of a betting office licence is increased from £80 to £106. The fee for renewal of a bookmaker's permit or betting agency permit is increased from £12 to £16. The fee for renewal of a betting office licence is increased from £15 to £20.
