Regulation Consultation

The public consultation on the implementation within the UK of the European Directive on the re-use of public sector information closed on 18 March 2005.

The policy responsibility is shared by the Cabinet Office through the Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI), incorporating Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (HMSO), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The Consultation includes the following documents:

Aim of the Consultation

The aim is to seek your views on the proposals for Regulations implementing a Directive of the European Parliament and Council on the re-use of public sector information. It introduces the proposed approach informed by the earlier Consultation in September 2003 and the move to a re-named body, the Office of Public Sector Information. Queries should be sent to the Information Policy team.

The consultation documents have been circulated to other government departments, the Advisory Panel on Public Sector Information (APPSI), the Publishers Association, representatives of the UK information industry, the Digital Content Forum, the Association for Geographic Information, the UK Library community and to the UK Parliament, the Scottish Parliament and the National Assembly for Wales.

Results of the Consultation
